SPI participates in workshop within the framework of the project Collab4Safety - Towards Sustainable Global Food Safety Collaboration

Sociedade Portuguesa de Inovação (SPI) has participated, on the 4th of May, in the Representation of the European Commission in Milan, in the stakeholders workshop of the Collab4Safety project - Towards Sustainable Global Food Safety Collaboration, of which is partner.

The project Collab4Safety (http://web.spi.pt/collab4safety/), coordinated by DLO-RIKILT Wageningen UR, Institute of Food Safety, Netherlands, is financed by the European Union through the Seventh Framework Programme and it is the result of the collaboration between 10 organization of 8 countries: Netherlands, France, United Kingdom, Portugal, Poland, China, Brazil and Russia.

The objective of the project is to optimise the integration of research and training in food safety between the European Union (EU) and its trading partners, in order to facilitate the control and mitigation of existing and emerging food risks, and to provide a sustainable platform for global integration of food safety policies.

During the workshop the results of the Delphi survey were presented as well as addressed questions on globalization and the impact on emergent risks and the importance of intersectorial collaboration.

Additionally, a video produced by DLO-RIKILT and supported by the European Commission was presented on food safety, the responsibilities/activities of several actors in food production and the regulatory system, besides presenting the Collab4Safety project. The video can be found here and will also be disseminated in the Expo Milan.
