26 November 2013
INPROFOOD’s European Open Space Conference took place at the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts (Brussels), on the 15th of November. This event focused on understanding “How can we shape the future of research in food and health?”, and was organised by the European project INPROFOOD, of which SPI is a partner.
Nearly 70 participants from 16 countries participated in the conference, which succeeded in encouraging discussion between different European stakeholders with interest in the area of food and health. Over 15 parallel workshops took place, which tackled topics such as “How to engage industry in setting the research agenda?” or “What is the impact of legislations on health”, with the aim of developing innovative approaches for dealing with food and health challenges.
The INPROFOOD project, funded by the European Community's Seventh Framework Programme, aims to develop stakeholder engagement programs both at national and European levels and stimulate the adoption of concrete initiatives of societal engagement in food and health research by forming an action plan. The project took off on 1st of November 2011 with a consortium of 18 partners.
